释义	北庭 běi tíng指汉代北单于所统治之地。泛指塞北少数民族所统治之地。唐方镇名。属陇右道。以其治所在北庭都护府﹐节度使例兼北庭都护﹐故通称北庭。辖西北伊、西、庭三州及北庭都护府境内诸军镇、守捉。其地后入回纥，继入吐蕃。指燕京。即今北京市。元建都燕京，时汉人称之为北庭。汉时称北匈奴居住的地方。后泛称北方夷狄之地。会南匈奴，掩破北庭。《后汉书．卷四○．班彪传下》唐时称西域为「北庭」，设北庭都护府。见《读史方舆纪要．卷五．历代州域形势五．唐上》。
