释义	放水燈 fàng shuǐ dēng一种民俗，源于佛教。中国佛教徒于农历七月十五日举行盂兰盆会，普施一切饿鬼。民间以放水灯通知水中鬼魂和饿鬼，来接受施舍。水灯一般都以色纸作成莲花形。在台湾是用竹条和纸糊制，有圆形灯或小屋形的纸厝。在普度的前一天，由僧人或道士引导游行，持圆形灯在前头，拿纸厝在最后。行至河边将灯置在水灯筏上，放入水中，称为「放水灯」。放水灯流行于台湾、大陆地区华南区域、香港、东南亚的中国寺院及日本。俗称为「普度」。
