释义	漸教 jiàn jiào佛教语。佛教各派对其教主释迦牟尼一生所说的教法，有不同的判教说，在我国如天台、法相、华严诸宗各异。一般以渐教和顿教判摄释迦一代的教法。所谓渐，指说法的由浅入深阶梯。由渐到顿，即由小乘到大乘。佛教语。指主张须经长期修习，才能把握佛教真理，即倡渐悟的教派。与主张顿悟的顿教相对。禅宗在诸派中属顿派；禅宗内部，北宗神秀侧重渐修，南宗慧能则提倡顿悟。中国古代高僧依据经典，将佛陀的教法分成渐教、顿教。渐教是指教导的修学的方法有次第，由浅而深，须经长久时间，渐次修行。渐教
